While stepping into your power can seem like an obvious goal to achieve, it can feel scary, as it comes with risks and challenges that people may consciously or unconsciously avoid.

Here are a few perspectives to consider:

Fear of Responsibility: Taking responsibility often implies accepting the consequences of one's actions, decisions, and their impact on others. This can be intimidating, as it forces people to confront uncertainty, mistakes, or failures. The fear of judgment or failure can make power seem overwhelming, leading people to shy away from it.

Comfort in Powerlessness: For some, staying "powerless" can feel safer, as it frees them from accountability. By not making decisions or not asserting themselves, they avoid blame. This passivity can serve as a defense mechanism to avoid discomfort or challenges that come with leadership or control.

Learned Helplessness: Psychological conditioning plays a role as well. People who repeatedly face situations where they feel powerless may develop a sense of learned helplessness, believing they have no control over their lives, which discourages them from seeking power or responsibility.

Social Conditioning: Some cultural or societal structures may teach individuals to rely on authority or external systems, rather than promoting personal responsibility. These structures may encourage dependence, making personal empowerment seem daunting.
